Once we have over half a million users we will begin to ask our users to propose bills.

These bills will be seen by our users across the United States who can contact their member of Congress and ask them to sign a discharge petition.

If fifty percent of members have signed a discharge petition the bill will automatically get a vote on the floor of the House of Representatives. If leadership see that thirty percent of members have signed it there is a chance they will put it on the weekly schedule for a vote.

A member of Congress may be swayed to sign a discharge petition if just a couple of hundred of her constituents support it, because that number of constituents hold sway in a primary. After all, your member of Congress is not voting it into law, she’s only giving the bill a chance to be discussed on the floor of the House.
